The Space Between Us

This sculpture depicts two figures in an intimate embrace, yet there is space between them, emphasising the emotional tension of longing. The contrast between the textured, organic forms of the figures and the smooth, geometric lines of the inner bronze creates a dynamic interplay, giving the sculpture a modern aesthetic that complements contemporary settings. The polished inner bronze surfaces act as mirrors, symbolising the reflective nature of relationships and how we often seek to understand ourselves through the other person.
The piece, titled “The Space Between Us”, was conceived during a solo trip around Europe, when I was separated from my partner. The sculpture embodies the chemistry and yearning that builds when two people are apart, highlighting the tension that grows in that physical distance. Through this piece, I explore the idea that even in moments of separation, we find reflections of our partner in ourselves, deepening the connection.
