'The Spirit of the IRIS'

The Iris flower in Japanese culture is used in rituals to invoke courage and protection,
and the “Spirit of the Iris” represents wisdom, hope, trust, and valor.

Each iris colour is given specific credit:

Symbolism:
•    Purple: Wisdom, royalty, and compliment.
•    Blue: Faith, hope, and trust.
•    Yellow: Passion, friendship, and joy.
•    White: Purity.

In approaching this subject, I incorporated each colour and tried to capture some sense of the symbolism through the Faith, Trust, Friendship, and Joy between the young lady and the bird. The lettering on the plate is Japanese for Wisdom and Faith.
