“Floral Frontier to the Rising Peak” is inspired by a hike I did in Cape Town, looking through the fynbos hillside toward Lion’s Head. I wanted to capture that rare stillness in the moment, with the Cape’s ever-changing clouds rolling in around the peak. Painted in acrylics, I used layered brushwork to bring out the texture of the fynbos and expressive strokes for the movement in the sky.
