Kirsty Springett
Kirsty Springett is a self-taught artist based in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, working in pen, ink, and watercolour.
Growing up close to nature, and influenced by her father, also an artist, she spent her early years exploring a range of creative
mediums, primarily acrylic. This early
exposure laid the foundation for a lifelong connection to art and the natural world.
In recent years, her practice has evolved with greater intention, guided by a deep
commitment to painting and a desire to share her work more openly. It was during this time that she began exploring the complexity and subtlety of watercolour.
Her work focuses on the quiet detail of the natural world, with subjects ranging from botanicals to birds and animals. Combining fine line with soft, layered washes, she
creates pieces that reflect a sense of calm, balance, and understated beauty, inviting a deeper connection between the work and those who encounter it.
